By Laws Changes
Enclosed with your statement this month, you will
find a corrected page 10 & 11 of the recent by laws change. The page 11 paragraph that was removed
resulted from an error in printing.
For your information and repeating Bob Beymer¡¯s message, these by laws
changes were approved with only four members dissenting.

Upcoming Elections for 2003
Our annual election of officers will be held in
November 2002 at the general membership meeting. At that time, we must elect a President,
Vice President and two Trustees. As
provided in the new by laws, nominations may be made at or prior to an
election. If prior to election, you
should address your nomination to Bob Beymer. A somewhat unusual instance has occurred
in that Rick Tressler was appointed to replace Brian Kennedy who resigned this
post. Brian was elected last
November (2001) to a two-year term.
In that Rick was not elected by the general membership, he has agreed to
stand for formal election and has been nominated for Trustee. G. Scott Huber is the other Trustee
whose term will expire in December 2002.
In addition to the elections, general club
business will be discussed.
Dues and Dry Time
As previously announced, the Trustees are working
hard at revising the pricing policy of COFA. It would be premature at this writing to
discuss the full details as we are still considering a number of options. Both the long and short-term effects are
being examined. Hopefully, a full
proposal will be made at the next Trustees meeting. Feel free to attend.

Plane Wash & Wax
The fall wash and wax ¡°parties¡± will be held on
October 19th and 26th this year. This is most important, as we need a
good wash and wax to get through the winter. If we encounter bad weather the wash
will be held on the following Saturday.
This may put us into November if we get bad weather, but it is a job
that must be done.
Prior to a wash and wax, the bellies of the
aircraft must be degreased. This is
usually accomplished during the week before wash day. Volunteers are needed to carry out this
task, otherwise the planes can¡¯t be washed and waxed. At last check a week or so ago, the
bellies did not look real bad, but they still need to be done. It takes 1 – 2 hours to do one plane
depending on how much oil, dirt etc. has collected.
In
the past, turnout has been light and with fewer members on site, it takes
longer to get the job done. These
are your aircraft and they need your attention. Sign up with Rick Tressler for degrease
and/or wash wax via email at k8svrick@yahoo.com
or phone at 614-262-7692. Send him
email or phone him to advise if you will be participating.

At this time, no members have come forth with any
offers to purchase this great airplane.
As a result, it will now be offered to anyone who is interested in
buying it. Rick Tressler and Frank
Craft did a great job on the advertisement flyer which will be displayed at
various airports. All interested
parties should contact Bob Beymer at 614-565-5182 or by email at rbeymer@insight.rr.com.
When was the last time you heard of an new airport
opening anywhere in the
This past Sunday, the wife and I headed that way to have a look-see in 12BC. Interestingly, no one seems to have any information on the airport except the airport personnel themselves. Apparently, the FAA just isn¡¯t used to opening airports very much, so the passing of information has taken an unusually long time and the airport management is fairly well frustrated in their attempts to get it ¡°on the map¡±, literally.
For those of you interested in taking a trip up
there, here¡¯s some basic information about the airport that will assist in
getting there.
Name –
Airport Phone Number - 937-593-8210
Identifier – 4F5
Elev. – 1123¡¯ msl
Runways – 25 / 7 -
5000 x 100 Asphalt
Traffic – Left pattern, both runways
Traffic Pattern Alt. – 2100¡¯ MSL all acft
Unicom / CTAF – 1 2 2 . 8 Mhz
Additional information can be obtained by calling
the airport at the number above.
There appears t be ASOS/AWOS on field, but I did not get the frequency.
According to the airport personnel I spoke with,
the full blown information should appear in FAA publications, such as
Sectionals and AFD with the 3 October printing.
As a safety note, be advised, BOTH
Bellefontaine REGIONAL as well as Bellefontaine MUNICIPAL are in
operation. When making calls
inbound and outbound, it is recommended using the full airport name to minimize
confusion. Just calling
¡°Bellefontaine Traffic¡± could become a problem
